I’m currently reading The Confidence Code by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman, and it’s everything girls, women and parents need to know about understanding confidence. The bottom line: It’s not enough to be talented. You have to be confident. Recent studies have shown evidence that confidence is actually more important than competence when earning social status. When I was asked to write the Story of My Family at a retreat, there were many ways to approach it. For whatever reason on that day, I didn’t think of my country or ethnicity or the many anecdotes that now have become family legend. The two words that popped into my head were Honor and Service.
